Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

I recently uploaded a little experimental film of mine called "Square Lights". It was created to see how sound can transform a simple abstract grid of color. If your brain sees an image moving and there is a sound synced up with it correctly, you usually don't question it. I ran with this idea, mashed some interesting sounds together, and came up with this.

I stumbled across the video below today, and it really inspired me to start doing some stop motion work again. After working in drawn animation for a while, it is fun to just pick up a camera and make animation on the fly. It can be a lot less calculated and more intuitive. This video below is by two street artists Limow and Sam3.

I love how much you can get away with, by just doing simple replacement animation. This is one of the cooler stop motion pieces I have seen in a while.

I am looking for more festivals to submit "Bookkeeper of the Universe" to. Any suggestions?

I have been spending a lot of time recently climbing mountains. I am 7 Mountains into my conquest of the NH 48 4,000 ft mountains in a seasonal winter. My buddy Sean and I have been spending most of our weekends up there trying to accomplish this feat. It looks like it may be actually possible to do. Recently we have been only going on trips where we can only bag one peak. We are going to have days soon where if lucky, we can bag 3 or 4 summits. Yeah! It is a lot of fun climbing mountains in the winter. It truly feels like you are on another planet (hoth). It is a good way to test your limits. Here is a couple pictures from our adventures.

Here I am on the summit of Mount Liberty. I received the 10 commandments shortly after.

Sean and I trying to navigate our way to the top of Cannon. Frosty.

That is it for now. More to come later.

Merry Xmass!

Merry Xmass everybody! I like to call "christmas" XMASS. Just because it sounds so "non secular". I mean Christmas has changed so much over the years, we might as well call it XMASS. It sounds much cooler anyways.

Here is a quick little card type thing I doodled up. I like doodles.

I started climbing some mountains this week! My buddy Sean and I are trying to climb as many of the 48 4,000 ft Mountains in NH mountains as we can this winter. Here is a picture on our first peak!

Two down! 46 to go!

That is it now! I am going to enjoy the rest of my holiday!

Animator for hire!

Hello once again! It has been a while since I have updated. Again I blame it on working, video games, and burritos.

So in October I went to the Ottawa International Animation Festival (IN CANADA). It was an absolutely amazing time. I saw tons of amazing films, met tons of new people, and got inspired. Both of my screenings went really well. It was an honor to have my film screen in the festival and it looked amazing on the big screen. Ottawa to is me is like on giant refresh button for creativity. At the end of every festival I just cannot wait to get home and start working again.

I have been doing a fair amount of drawing lately and even more brain storming. I have an idea for a short film that has been kicking around, but I do not know if I am ready just yet to invest that amount of time. I am also working on an idea for a series of web shorts (maybe 5-30 seconds each) based off of the
"brother and sis" characters I created. I am kind of split between these two. Regardless, here is one of my colored sketches.

This is a random bird character from my sketch book, colored in photoshop. I really like this guy.

My film "Bookkeeper of the Universe" is in contention for a bunch of festivals. I am excited to see if it can get into some more screenings! If you know any great festivals to apply for, please tell me.

Right now I am looking for some freelance animation work. You could say I am an "animator for hire". If you like my work and need animation for commercials, music videos, movies, or anything else, please get in contact with me!

That is it for now!

Update to the max!

Hello Everybody!

It has been a long time since I updated. I can blame it on finding a new place to live, moving, working, and eating hamburgers.

So first off I need to post... that my film "Bookkeeper of the Universe" was accepted into the Ottawa International Animation festival!

Yeah! It will screen in the Student Showcase on Saturday October 17th and Sunday the 18th. Check out the line up at the screening!

And check out my Ottawa film page at the link below!

I will be attending the whole festival and both screenings. So please hunt me down after the screenings and say HI!

I have also entered Bookkeeper into a bunch of other festivals and I am waiting to hear the results! I have been doing a lot of drawing lately and I decided to post another colored character. WHAM!

He is a bowler! I am thinking about giving him a sweet bowling alley background. Heck I may even design more bowlers.

Well that's if for this post! Catch you guys soon!

More films up online!

Hello everybody! I have posted more of my films on vimeo!

Here is my degree project, "Bookkeeper of the Universe"....

And here is a stop motion music video called "Tacky". Animated with... well tacks.

I went to Animation Block Party this weekend with Steve Madden. I caught two shows and they were pretty great! Though New York City is still overwhelming and a puzzle to navigate. Now I can't wait for Ottawa!

I will have some more characters posted by the end of the week. Later!

Brother and Sis

I decided to have some fun today and color some drawings from my sketch book. Check out brother and sis...

I drew these on a round trip commuter rail day. I always come up with a lot of good drawings on public transportation. Probably because I am terrible at sudoku.
